If there’s a lovelier place in Britain to hold a folk festival, we don’t know it. The picture here is an aerial shot of Tredegar House in its formal gardens…it’s open to visitors and you’ll find full details at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/tredegar-house. The festival is held in the parkland just outside the house and gardens, and it’s really easy to get to. Leave the M4 at junction 28, and follow the signs to Tredegar House…or just open your car window and follow the music. We’re about two minutes from junction 28 with loads of car parking. And with Severn Bridge tolls a distant memory, we’re even better value. And if you’re coming by train, Newport station is just a few minutes’ walk from Friar’s Walk bus terminus…then it’s a No.30, 35 or 36 bus to Tredegar Park.
