The funding that the Arts Council for Wales distributes comes from both the Welsh Government and The National Lottery. Most of the funding goes to artists and arts organisations - such as this festival - carrying out programmes of work across Wales. These can include theatres, cinemas, galleries and projects for all ages…you name it. Sometimes the Council also runs its own projects, especially where these explore new areas of arts activity, or help to persuade other organisations to take an interest in the arts. Tŷ Cerdd is an organisation that exists to promote, champion and celebrate the music of Wales. Besides being a resource centre and a hub for help and advice to creative musical talents, it distributes Lottery funding in the form of grants across specific areas that go to the heart of Welsh music making. These include funding for new music commissions and youth funding. Tŷ Cerdd, based in Cardiff’s Millennium Centre, also has a fine library of Welsh and choral music for hire, plus a recording studio, available for hire, and used by stars such as Cerys Matthews, Bryn Terfel, Amy Wadge and many more. Mae Tŷ Cerdd yn hyrwyddo, hybu a dathlu cerddoriaeth Cymru. Ar ben bod yn ganolfan adnoddau, cyngor a chymorth i gerddorion talentog, mae’n dosbarthu cyllid o’r Loteri mewn grtantiau ar draws meysydd sydd wrth wraidd creu cerddoriaeth yng Nhgymru, gan gynnwys cyllido comisiynu cerddoriaeth newydd a cherddorion ifanc. Lleolir Tŷ Cerdd yng Nghanolfan Mileniwm Caerdydd ac mae ganddo lyfrgell eang o gerddoriaeth Gymreig a chorawl sydd ar gael i‘w rentu. We are indebted to the Welsh Folk Dance Society for their unflagging support in making Tredegar House Folk Festival one of the nation’s premier dance festivals. The Society maintains and extends Welsh traditional dancing throughout Wales and the world. Its members work tirelessly not just to help us but also to provide information and support to many organisations across the country and to teachers preparing folk dance groups for Urdd competitions and eisteddfodau. Culture Ireland promote Irish Arts worldwide, creating opportunities for Irish musicians and companies to present their excellence at major festivals and arts events across the globe.
