We’re delighted and privileged to welcome you to our 2025 festival. It’s going to be a brilliant, heartwarming, life-affirming celebration of the best of us all. Huge ticketed music concerts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and a ticketed ceilidh on Saturday night. Every other festival event is free: workshops, singarounds, folk club sessions and, of course, ALL the dance displays.

In a world of ever rising costs, we’ve kept 2025’s ticket prices as low as humanly possible, with NO EXTRA booking fees that can add a hefty whack to ticket prices and which all of us dislike so much. Full details are on our TICKETS page. But, quite simply, a weekend ticket saves you almost £30 compared to paying individually for our three big music concerts and our Saturday ceilidh. That saving rises to almost £65 if you plan on camping with us in tent, motorhome or caravan.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

You’d be doing us a huge favour if you could buy your tickets well IN ADVANCE. It really helps us plan our finances when things are so tight. And please, please share our Facebook posts far and wide, and tell your friends about us. If you love us, they will too - and we’d like you all to be festival ambassadors.

HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

Once again, thanks to the generosity of our hosts the National Trust, every festival ticket holder (and that means anyone who’s bought a ticket for any or all of our paid-for concerts or our Saturday ceilidh) gets free access to Tredegar House itself and its glorious gardens, saving you up to £12 per person. It’s a day out in itself. Full details are on the TREDEGAR HOUSE page of this website.

As we mentioned, we’ve got loads of free events - more than ever. As we get full details and timings nearer festival weekend we’ll include them on a Timetable page. But we’d like to draw your attention two very special free Friday events which, alongside our huge ticketed music concert, kick off the festival with a bang.

THE FRIDAY NIGHT TWMPATH

For 2025 we’re making this event free (in previous years it’s been ticketed) so that if you’re not going to the big ticketed music concert as many people as possible can get the chance to dance their way into festival weekend.

The Twmpath (Welsh for barn dance or ceilidh) is being run by our good friends at Menter Iaith Newport - a brilliant principality-wide organisation supporting and promoting the Welsh language. You’ll find a link to them on our Home page. They do magnificent work.

THE FRIDAY NIGHT BIG BASH

A night of great tunes, many instruments and lots of joining in! If you have a traditional tune to play, bring your instrument to our Marcus Music Marquee and share the joy of making music with others. It’s also an opportunity to immerse yourself in some of the great Welsh heritage tunes. Run by friends of Marcus Music, including Dave Cox, Sue Cleaves, Greg and Pat Morgan, Lol Lutman and many others, this is a sized-up version of our beloved Old Friends Session celebrating the memory of Marcus Butler, founder member of this festival and creator of Marcus Music. We want to make this a really big celebration, but also one with a special intimate atmosphere - tables, chairs and candlelight. So spread the word among any traditional music lovers you know. And remember: you can just come and listen, sit back and have a drink or two…there’s a CAMRA real ale bar on site serving Welsh real ales.

AND FINALLY (FOR NOW)..

Here are some images from 2024’s amazing festival. We’ve set them to the stunning music of Huw Williams, one of the standout stars of 2024’s concerts, and his beautiful song The Summer Before The War. Click on the picture-link and enjoy.
